Rain & Your Gardens: Problems, Pollution, and Possibilities

Kate Venturini, a Program Administrator for Cooperative Extension (CoopExt) at the University of Rhode Island, will focus on sustainable stormwater runoff solutions for your gardens and homes, including Rain Garden Development to treat runoff and recharge groundwater.

Kate provides administrative support and leadership to a number of CoopExt programs and projects, including the Master Gardener Program, School Garden Initiative, Energy Fellows Program, and CoopExt’s Communications Strategy. Kate began her CoopExt career in 2005 as the first URI Master Gardener Fellow, and moved into a program coordinator role from 2006-2012.  Her research and outreach efforts focused on sustainable landscape management as it relates to the vitality of natural resources and the human environment in Rhode Island.

The Beechwood Lecture Series is a joint effort of the URI Master Gardeners Program and the RI Wild Plant Society. Master Gardeners receive education credits for attending.  The lectures are offered to the public free of charge.
