Habitat Restoration: Beavers – Good? Bad?

May 20, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Pulaski Park, RICome see what the first nature engineers have designed. Twelve acre Peck’s Pond is a popular destination spot in Pulaski State Park and Recreation Area. In the last decade the beavers have also come and settled. Join Paul Dolan, RI tree expert and current President of RI Wild Plant Society, to learn how the beavers are reshaping the habitat.  Are these changes in this well used recreation area to be welcomed? Managers of the property will be joining the group.

This program is the first in a series of 4 programs on the Challenge of Habitat Restoration. On 18 June we will consider a project to create a pollinator habitat at Conanicut Island Land Trust property, Godena Farm, in Jamestown.   Fall will take us to other areas in the state for perspectives on grassland and salt marsh restoration.

Please note. The group gather in Parking Lot 1.
