NATIVE GARDENS

RIWPS & Trinity Rep invite you to

A Special Afternoon at the Theater

Enjoy Native Gardens a play about two couples with different gardening styles. One loves elaborate English gardens and the other loves native plants and wildflowers. They all agree that the chain link fence separating their yards has got to to! Everyone starts off on the right foot, but when the truth about that old fence is revealed a sparking comedy of good intentions and bad manners blooms. WHY THIS SPECIAL AFTERNOON?

Native Gardens, is being performed from April 5-May 6, 2018. Several months ago, RIWPS was contacted by the Trinity Rep Community Outreach Coordinator to ask if we would like to collaborate with them on the production. Obviously, plays that promote the use of native plants in the garden are not written or performed every day, how could we say no.

For many years, RIWPS has been educating the public on the many benefits of studying, protecting and growing native plants. To have a play, which brings that message to the public in a theatrical setting, is like a dream come true. We are all passionate about native plants so it is great that Trinity is helping us bring this message to the attention of Rhode Islanders.

RIWPS has provided Trinity with an informative article, GO WILD: Use Native Plants in Your Garden, which they are including in their program. Obviously, everyone who attends the play will receive it. Talk about great promotion of our mission.

RIWPS has given the graphic artists at Trinity many photos of native plants and native plant gardens that they plan to use in a creative display in the lobby of the theater. We cannot wait to see how it will look.

Finally, Trinity has agreed to distribute our Plant Sale flyers in the lobby. RIWPS has printed 5000 of them and we hope that interested theatergoers will pick them up and come to our plant sales this spring.

Please join RIWPS on Saturday, April 28, 2018 to see Native Gardens at Trinity Rep.
