April 12, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Please note.  This program is also offered on March 29.  We are pleased that we are able to offer another session of this program.

Brown University Herbarium offers a priceless snapshot of botanical life, in Rhode Island and across the nation and the world, in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Join Tim Whitfeld, Collections Manager, to learn the history of the collection and how specimens are used in research. Watch a  demonstration on preparing and mounting specimens for accession into the collection and then go behind the scenes to see how the collection is stored.

This tour is free and offered in conjunction with the the exhibit, Entwined: Botany, Art and the Lost Cat Swamp Habitat, January 10 through April 30 at the John Hay Library, Brown University. The exhibit is the collaborative work of the Brown University Herbarium, Rhode Island Historical Society (RIHS), Rhode Island Wild Plant Society (RIWPS), and John Hay Library.
