A joint program with the Bristol Historical and Preservation Society takes us to Juniper Hill Cemetery, a garden style cemetery tucked into a western facing slope above Bristol Harbor.
On this evening tour Chris Fletcher, Arborist and Cemetery Keeper, will discuss the history of the romantic rural cemetery movement, and the history of the first tree imports from Asia into the Western hemisphere. Bristol and Juniper Hill cemetery received some of the first shipments of Asian specimens.
Chris will also tell the stories of Bristol’s slave hauling past through the family members who participated during Bristol’s infamous involvement as the largest slave hauling port in the country. Join us and you’ll experience Bristol’s souls from the past romantic fauna and flora of Juniper Hill.
