Ever wondered how to make use of your electronic devices in the field? Or simply how to identify thousands of species without hauling your weight in books? Join Michael Piantedosi, NEPCoP/Seed Bank Coordinator of New England Wild Flower Society, as we discuss the core concepts of using a digital, dichotomous key in a field setting to identify the New England flora.
We’ll key out several plants to species level using New England Wild Flower Society’s online dichotomous key, GoBotany. Please bring a hand-lens (10-20x), and either a tablet computer, laptop, or a copy of Flora Novae Angliae (the print companion to GoBotany).
Location: URI Invasive Classroom, Building 75, URI East Farm, Kingston, RI. On East Farm Road follow the signs to Pesticide Training and park in the area designated for Pesticide Training.
